How Pet Weight Calculation Works in Grow a Garden
Every pet in Grow a Garden follows a single universal growth rule — and it all starts at the moment of hatching. Hatch weight is the base stat that determines your pet's entire future: its rarity tier, its max weight at Age 125, the strength of every ability it will ever use, and its trading value on the market. Our Grow a Garden Pet Weight Calculator applies this formula automatically the moment you enter any two values. Here's how it works under the hood.
never changes. This is what our calculator reverse-engineers.Wh ÷ 11 kg — linear progression from Age 1 to peak at Age 125.Here's a quick example so you can see how it works. A pet with a hatch weight of 5 kg (Huge tier) at Age 100 weighs exactly 50 kg — because (5/11) × (100+10) = 50. That's the 10× rule: at Age 100, every pet weighs roughly 10× its hatch weight. Using the pet weight scaling formula, that same 5 kg pet reaches 61.4 kg at Age 125 — the true peak. Stack a Nightmare mutation on top and suddenly that's a pet worth serious Sheckles. That's why the grow a garden calculator matters — it shows you what you're actually trading, not just what's displayed in-game.
All Grow a Garden Pet Rarity Classifications
Rarity in Grow a Garden is a function of hatch weight alone. The classification is assigned permanently at hatching and controls ability strength, cooldown reduction, and trading value for the pet's entire life. Our GAG pet weight calculator shows this tier the moment you enter your values. For a deeper look at how rarity affects ability output, see our pet ability calculator.
| Classification | Hatch Weight | Max Weight Age 125 | Ability Strength | Trading Value |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Small | < 1 kg | ~13.5 kg | Minimal | Low |
| Normal | 1 – 5 kg | 13.5 – 67.5 kg | Moderate | Standard |
| Huge | 5 – 8 kg | 67.5 – 108 kg | Strong | Premium |
| Titanic | 8 – 9 kg | 108 – 121.5 kg | Very Strong | High |
| Godly | ≥ 9 kg | ≥ 121.5 kg | Maximum | Highest ★ |
How to Use the Grow a Garden Pet Weight Calculator
Using the calculator takes under 10 seconds. Three inputs, instant output.
Select Your Pet from the Database
Choose your pet from the dropdown. The calculator auto-fills known base stats for that species. If your pet isn't listed, enter stats manually — the formula works for all pets.
Enter Current Age and Weight (kg)
Type your pet's current in-game age (1–125) and its current displayed weight in kg. The calculator reverse-engineers the true hatch weight — the number that defines everything about your pet's value and potential.

Understanding the Growth Table Ages 1–125
The growth table shows your pet's weight at every age from 1 to 125. It's not decorative — it's a planning tool. Each milestone age unlocks stronger abilities and crosses key trading thresholds that determine how much your pet is worth right now versus in 20 more levels.
The most important thresholds for ability-based strategies and trading decisions:
| Age Milestone | Weight (kg) | Ability / Trading Impact |
|---|---|---|
| Age 1 | 5.0 kg | Base ability strength |
| Age 10 | 9.1 kg | Cooldown reduction scaling begins |
| Age 25 | 15.9 kg | Passives noticeably stronger |
| Age 50 | 27.3 kg | Mid-tier trading threshold |
| Age 75 | 38.6 kg | High-value trade range — Nightmare sweet spot |
| Age 100 | 50.0 kg | Primary trading benchmark (10× hatch) |
| Age 125 | 61.4 kg ★ | Peak weight — maximum ability output |
In Grow a Garden, abilities scale linearly with weight. Every kg gained adds a proportional boost to proc rate, cooldown reduction, and passive effect magnitude.
- A 30 kg pet delivers roughly 50–70% faster cooldowns than the same pet at 10 kg
- Success rates for passive abilities improve 20–40% between 10 kg and 30 kg
- Mutation application chances scale with weight for pets like Dragonfly and Disco Bee
- Pet XP requirements stay the same regardless of weight — level efficiently with helper pets like Capybara and Bald Eagle
Using Pet Weight for Smarter Trades in Grow a Garden
Weight-aware trading is the difference between winning and getting scammed. The most common mistake is evaluating a pet by its current weight without checking the hatch weight. A young Huge Raccoon at Age 10 weighs less than an old Normal Raccoon at Age 100 — but the Huge one is worth far more once leveled. Always verify hatch weight before any trade.
Low trade value despite high age
Significantly higher — same species
Same species, same age — different hatch weights mean entirely different values. Check with the calculator first.
Rule 1 — Verify hatch weight, not current weight
Enter any trade pet's current age and weight into the calculator before accepting. Hatch weight is what you're buying.
Rule 2 — Know Brontosaurus and Seal thresholds
Brontosaurus needs Titanic weight (≥ 8.5 kg hatch) for the 30% hatch rate boost. Use the calculator to verify before paying a premium.
Rule 3 — Mutations multiply, not upgrade
A Rainbow Nightmare mutation boosts effectiveness but does not change the rarity tier. A Rainbow Normal is still Normal. Don't let visuals override a weight check.
Rule 4 — Use Age 100 as the common benchmark
The community standard is Age 100 projections. Use the growth table to project both pets to Age 100 before comparing. Also check our crop value calculator when bundling crops in trades.
Someone offers you a Raccoon they claim is Huge. You ask for their current age and weight. They say: Age 30, 14 kg.
= 14 ÷ ((30 ÷ 10) + 1)
= 14 ÷ 4 = 3.5 kg → Normal tier
Using the pet weight calculator, the hatch weight comes back at 3.5 kg — firmly in Normal range (1–5 kg), not Huge (5–8 kg). You can walk away or renegotiate with full confidence.
Grow a Garden Pet Weight — Frequently Asked Questions
The formula is W = (Wh ÷ 11) × (A + 10). W = current weight, Wh = hatch weight, A = pet age. It's community-verified with a ~2% margin of error for most pets. This calculator applies it automatically — just enter any two known values and it solves for the third.
A hatch weight of 9 kg or above is Godly tier — the highest classification in the game. Godly pets offer maximum ability strength, the shortest cooldowns, and the highest trading value ceiling. At Age 125 a 9 kg hatch pet reaches ~121.5 kg — roughly 9× the max weight of a Normal-tier pet.
No — hatch weight is permanently locked at hatching. The Brontosaurus pet can boost new hatch weights by up to 30% when used during egg hatching, but it cannot change an existing pet's hatch classification. The only thing that increases a pet's total weight after hatching is aging.
The maximum pet age is 125. Age 100 is the community standard for trading benchmarks (roughly 10× hatch weight), but Age 125 is true peak potential. Most other calculators stop at 100 — ours supports the full 1–125 range.
Yes — weight directly scales ability strength. Heavier pets have shorter cooldowns, higher proc rates, and stronger passive effects. A 30 kg pet delivers roughly 50–70% faster cooldowns than the same pet at 10 kg. This is why hatch weight determines so much — it sets the entire growth ceiling for abilities. Use our pet ability calculator to see exact scaling.
Triceratops is the most well-known exception — it has constant stats regardless of weight or age. A small number of other special-mechanic pets may also behave differently. Always verify on the Grow a Garden Fandom Wiki before making high-value trades on edge-case pets.
Your Pet's Potential Is Already Decided — Now You Can See It
Hatch weight determines everything that follows. Every ability, every trade negotiation, every growth milestone — it all traces back to the number locked in the moment your pet hatched from its egg. The Grow a Garden Pet Weight Calculator gives you full visibility into that number and everything it unlocks.
- Use it before every trade to verify hatch weight and rarity classification
- Use it during leveling to plan your path to key weight breakpoints
- Use it when evaluating event pets to calculate long-term value before investing XP
- Use it to catch scammers claiming higher tiers than a pet actually holds
